Biography

Staffordshire-born Soprano Sarah Rowley is currently studying for her Masters at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Susan Roper, where she is the recipient of the James and Mary Glass Scholarship. Increasingly in demand as a soloist around the country, she is praised as showing considerable promise and potential. During her time at the RNCM she has been selected to attend an Opera North Residency and will be performing the role of Angelica (Orlando) in the upcoming Opera Scenes. Future engagements include performances of Mozart Requiem and Bach B Minor Mass. 

In 2017, Sarah performed her debut principal role; Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with The City Manchester Opera. She has also appeared as a chorus member in Young Opera Venture’s touring productions of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Holst’s Savatri at Grimeborn Opera Festival and in the world premier recording of Daniel Purcell’s Judgement of Paris.

Sarah's concert and oratorio work have taken her around the country. Recent engagements have included: Bach St John Passion, Mass in B Minor, BWV 40 Wachet Auf ,BWV 30 Freude dich, BWV 146 Wir müssen durch viel Trübsal, Mozart Coronation Mass, Mass in C MinorRequiem and, Orff Carmina Burana.

Sarah began her musical training as a Chorister at Lincoln Cathedral. She went on to gain a Music Scholarship to Sedbergh School, a place in The National Youth Choir of Great Britain and a Choral Scholarship in the Chapel Choir at King’s College London, where she read Ancient History. She has also since gained a Graduate Diploma in Law. Her singing has taken her around the world. Highlights include: Russia, USA, Prague, Spain and France. She has participated in numerous broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and 4, the later predominantly as a Daily Service Singer and has recorded under the Hyperion, Delphian, Convivium and Signum Records labels. Sarah has also appeared in the BBC Proms under Daniel Barenboim, Gustavo Dudamel and Vasily Petrenko.
